40 years of growing (older, not up!)
Here's what we're talking about: a nucleus family consisting of father, mother, son, and two daughters. Though perhaps not the earliest picture I have, this one's from 1957 and was taken in the living room of our house in Downey, California, the only house Dad and Mom ever owned. On the left is my Dad, Edward Bulian. Between him and me is my younger sister, Barbara. Then me, and then my youngest sister, Michelle, between me and my Mom, Darlene.
This next one was taken in 1976 out on the patio in the back of the house. Notice I'm still sporting one of those '70's style haircuts that hung over the ears. Fortunately, I'd gotten rid of the leisure suits and shirts by then. 'Chelle looks pretty young for her age (I'm pushing 30 at this point!). Barb looks all Hollywood!
This last one was taken 20 years later in 1996 for Dad and Mom's 50th wedding anniversary, just before I moved back to Los Angeles. Note the stylish gray hair in my beard? I felt it looked like I'd been drinking whiteout and dribbled. Barb's got that same old "Deer caught in the headlights" look she had in school! 'Chelle's "headlight" glasses were so cool!
More to come!
